- St. John's wins its 10th straight game against Columbia and improves to 15-7 in an all-time series that dates back to 1916. The Red Storm snaps a three-game losing streak and moves its season mark to 6-4 and its mark in the Holiday Festival to 63-33.
- St. John's held the Lions to just 39 points on 27.1 percent shooting, both new season-lows by a Red Storm opponent. In 10 games this season, St. John's has held opponents to 50 points or fewer five of them and to 32 percent shooting or lower in six.
- The Red Storm assisted on a season-high 20 of its 24 baskets and tied a season-low with 11 turnovers. The 20 helpers were the most since posting 21 in the 2004-05 season-opening win over Wagner.
- St. John's put forth one of its best shooting efforts of the season, hitting on 24-of-48 (.500) shots from the floor and 7-of-16 from 3-point range (.438). The 50 percent shooting was the team's second-highest of the season, while the 43.8 percent mark from 3-point range was the team's best.
- Freshman Anthony Mason Jr. scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and dished out two assists in 24 minutes. Mason has scored in double figures in each of his two Madison Square Garden appearances, averaging 14.0 points on 43.5 percent shooting in those games.
- Sophomore point guard Eugene Lawrence dished out a career-high eight assists and turned the ball over just twice in 33 minutes. Lawrence also connected on 4-of-5 field goal attempts, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, and scored 12 points. It was the fourth time in five games that Lawrence has scored in double figures, a span over which he has averaged 10.8 points, 5.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
- Senior Ryan Williams established new season-highs in a number of categories, recording four points, eight rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes - all season-bests.
- St. John's, the second-best rebounding team in the BIG EAST, out-rebounded its 10th consecutive opponent to start the season. The Red Storm held a 33-32 advantage on the glass, its ninth game of the season holding an opponent to 33 rebounds or fewer.
- Cedric Jackson drew his second start of the season in place of an injured Daryll Hill (knee) and recorded five points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in a season-high 33 minutes.
