Red Storm Doubleheader With Fairleigh Dickinson Cancelled

Queens, NY - The St. John's University softball's home opener against Fairleigh Dickinson scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled due to heavy rains in the New York metropolitan area. The game will not be made up.
The Red Storm (11-15) will return to the field on Wednesday, when they travel to New Haven, CT to take on Yale in a doubleheader scheduled for 3 pm. The Bulldogs led the all-time series 10-8-1, having not lost in the last four meetings (3-0-1). In games played on the Yale campus, St. John's is 5-6.
Yale enters the doubleheader with a 5-11 record, coming off a home split with Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Sophomore Christina Guerland leads the Bulldog offense, batting .321, while also posting team-highs in runs with nine and doubles with three. In the circle, Yale has spread out the innings among three players, as they have combined for a 2.44 earned run average.
