Queens, NY - The St. John's men's golf team posted its best score of the weekend, a 19-over par 303, and finished in a tie for 12th place at the Dick Wittcoff/USF Invitational, held at the University of South Florida Golf Course in Tampa.
The Red Storm finished with a three-round score of 78-over par 930, tying with Florida Atlantic. Host South Florida shot a six-over par 290 on Sunday and came from behind to win the tournament, topping the 15-team field with a score of 36-over par 888. Florida Southern was one shot off the pace and finished second, followed by Middle Tennessee State, Mercer and Austin Peay to round out the top five.
Brandan Price of Mercer carded a three-over par 216 and took medalist honors.
St. John's was led by freshman Keegan Bradley (Hopkinton, MA), who shot a two-under par 69 on Sunday and tied for 12th place overall with a 13-over par 226.
Junior Tom Travalja (Oradell, NJ) shot a five-over par 76 in the final round and tied for 49th place at 20-over par 233, followed by junior Brian McArdle (Huntington, NY), who tied for 51st place at 21-over par 234.
Sophomore Joe Yastrub (Lake Grove, NY) tied for 60th place at 24-over par 237 and senior Ian Middleton (British Columbia, Canada) finished in 75th place at 34-over par 247.
St. John's is next in action on Tuesday, hosting the Treasure Coast Classic at the Fox Club in Stuart, Florida.
