- Tonight's meeting was the 23rd in an all-time series against Columbia that dates back to the 1916 season. The Red Storm has won 11 straight over the Lions and posted a 9-1 all-time record at home.
- The home win extended a six-game win streak for the Red Storm, which is the longest streak at St. John's since the 1999-00 team won eight straight from Feb. 5-Feb. 29, 2000. The longest previous win streak of the Norm Roberts Era was three games (twice, last Jan. 8-Jan. 21, 2006).
- St. John's went on an 8-3 run over the final 4:32 of the first half and began the second half with a 16-4 run over the opening 8:43. The Red Storm tightened up its defense and held the Lions to just two field goals over its second-half run.
- Senior forward Lamont Hamilton scored St. John's first 10 points of the night and finished with a career-high 36 points in 34 minutes. Hamilton's scoring output was the highest by a Red Storm player since Marcus Hatten scored 44 vs. Rutgers on March 6, 2003.
- Hamilton went 11-of-13 from the floor and 14-of-16 from the free throw line and grabbed five rebounds (three offensive).
- Anthony Mason Jr. made six free throws and got to the charity stripe a career-high nine times in extending his double-figure scoring streak to nine games. The sophomore added two rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in 35 minutes.
- Junior captain Eugene Lawrence filled up the stat sheet, scoring all seven of his points from the free throw line and recording 10 assists, six rebounds and a career-high six steals. Lawrence assisted on the Red Storm's first five baskets of the second half and finished the period with seven assists (three in the first half).
- Sophomore center Tomas Jasiulionis was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor and tied career-highs with six points and four rebounds in 16 minutes.
- Junior Avery Patterson streak of consecutive free throws made came to an end midway through the second half when he missed an attempt for a 3-point play. Patterson finished with six points on 2-of-6 shooting and two rebounds.
- As a team, St. John's established new season-highs with 31 free throws and 46 free throw attempts. Hamilton had career-highs in both categories, going 14-of-16 in a dominant effort, and Lawrence set a new career-high with 10 attempts.
