- With the win, St. John's improves to 12-13 overall and 5-9 in the BIG EAST, while Seton Hall falls to 16-9 and 7-6.
- St. John's now leads the all-time series 52-28 and is 31-8 at home against the Pirates.
- The Red Storm, which ranks third in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense, held the Pirates to their third-lowest field goal percentage (.281) of the season and their lowest in 16 games.
- St. John's .333 field goal percentage was its lowest in a win this season.
- The Red Storm held a +17 rebounding advantage (48-31) for the second time in three games and posted its highest offensive rebounding total in seven games (17).
- Junior Lamont Hamilton posted his team-high sixth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. In his last three games, Hamilton has averaged 17.7 points and 11.7 rebounds and has led the team in scoring in all three games. Hamilton also added three blocks and tied a career-high with three steals in 38 minutes.
- Freshman Ricky Torres scored seven points, had one assist and set a new career-high with two steals in the win. In his last five games, Torres is averaging 7.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 steals in 17.4 minutes per game.
- Junior Jermaine Maybank scored four points in a career-high 16 minutes. Maybank logged double-digit minutes in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
- Sophomore Cedric Jackson put forth a balanced effort, scoring two points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in 34 minutes. In eight starts this season, Jackson has averaged 5.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 34.0 minutes per game. In those eight games, Jackson's 34.0 mpg lead the team.
- Junior Aaron Spears was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and scored nine points in the game. Spears also added a career-high three blocks, one assist and one rebound in 26 minutes.
