St. John's Opens Ten-Game Road Swing At Hofstra

ST. JOHN'S OPENS TEN-GAME ROAD SWING AT HOFSTRA
• The St. John's softball team will travel to Hofstra on Wednesday, April 19 for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference doubleheader. The matchup between the two teams will be the first of ten road games for the Red Storm.
• Hofstra leads the all-time series between the two teams, 21-12-1. St. John's hosted Hofstra during the 2005 season, dropping game one of the doubleheader 6-4. Game two ended in a 3-3 tie as the game was called due to darkness in the sixth inning.
ST. JOHN'S SNAPS LOSING STREAK WITH 8-3 WIN OVER SETON HALL
• The St. John's softball team split a pair of conference games with local rival Seton Hall on Saturday, April 15. The Red Storm fell in the first game 4-1 but bounced back in game two, taking an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. St. John's snapped a four game losing streak with an 8-3 victory over Seton Hall.
• Junior Loren Anguiano came up with the biggest hit of the game at the perfect time as her grand slam over the center field fence put St. John's up 4-0 in the first inning of game two. It was the second time this season and the second time in Anguiano's career that she has hit a grand slam. She also had two doubles in the game, finishing with six RBI.
• In the circle, rookie Jessica Foley was solid in her seventh win of the season. She scattered eight hits over seven innings and allowed three earned runs.
LUPINETTI NATIONALLY RANKED
• Freshman Lauren Lupinetti is tied for 38th place in batting average in the NCAA. Lupinetti and BIG EAST foe Elena Romero from Providence are tied with a .417 batting average as of games played through April 9.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
• The Hofstra Pride is coming off a 2-1 weekend series win against conference foe Georgia State. On Saturday, the Pride came from behind in both games of a doubleheader to win 3-2 and 6-5.
• In Sunday's single game, Georgia State edged Hofstra 3-2 in eight innings. The loss marked the Pride's first home defeat of the season. Hofstra is 10-1 on its home field and 25-12 overall.
• Hofstra currently holds a half-game lead over Georgia State for first place in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride are 9-2 in conference play with nine games left in the regular season.
• Ashley Lane leads the team offensively with a .389 batting average, 42 hits, 33 runs, 10 home runs and a slugging percentage of .731. Her 32 RBI is second only to teammate Tara Ulrich's 34.
• Ulrich is another offensive weapon for the Pride. She is hitting .319 with 37 hits, 24 runs, 14 doubles, 10 home runs and 34 RBI.
• Carolann Lubach and Lisa Wambold add some speed to Hofstra's base paths as the duo combine for 20 stolen bases so far this season.
• In the circle, Kayleigh Lotti leads the team with 11 wins and 96 strikeouts. She has a 2.87 ERA over 17 appearnces. Melissa Hodge boasts the lowest ERA (1.88) with five victories in 10 games.
• As a team, Hofstra is hitting .285 with a .443 slugging percentage while holding opponents to a .239 batting average.
