Red Storm Men's Golf Takes Third In Mississippi

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's men's golf team made sure to keep its streak of medaling in every event this season alive with a third place finish at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The Red Storm moved up from fourth place in the final round of play, finishing with a 13-over 865 (284, 283, 298). The team played through tough weather conditions and very difficult opponents, yet still proved they are one of the top teams in the East. St. John's finished behind UAB, six-over 858 (282, 282, 294) and host Southern Mississippi, seven-over 859 (277, 286, 296).
"The team played really well in another great event," said head coach Frank Darby. "This tournament capped off a great fall season for us."
The Red Storm was led by senior co-captain Keegan Bradley. Bradley, an All-American candidate, finished the tournament in fifth place, with a two-under 211 (69, 70, 72). Sophomore sensation Mike Ballo Jr. continued his hot play as of late, placing tied for twelfth with a four-over 217 (73, 70,74). Junior Kevin Velardo shot well and also finished tied for twelfth. Velardo finished with a four-over 217 (74, 69, 74).
The Red Storm golf team finishes fall regular season play in record fashion, medaling in every tournament this season. St. John's had one first place finish, a pair of seconds and three thirds. As of November 6th Ballo Jr. was ranked 41st place in the Golfstat Cup with a 70.64 scoring average in fourteen rounds. Bradley stands in 66th with a 71.07 average.
