Red Storm Softball Drops A Game To Drake

Austin, Texas ??? The St. John???s softball team lost to the Drake Bulldogs in the opening game of the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational, 6-0. The Red Storm will continue its play at the Invitational when it takes on host No. 10 Texas at 7:30 p.m. tonight at McComb???s Field.
St. John???s and Drake kept the game scoreless over the first three innings, but the Bulldogs broke through with a double steal in the middle of the fourth that scored Jaci Faidley and put up the first run of the day. Drake???s Lindsay Larry fired a two RBI triple down the right field line in the same inning, giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead. When all was said and done at the end of the frame, Drake was up 6-0.
St. John???s threatened in the top of the fourth when Loren Anguiano led off with her second hit of the day, a single to left field. Junior Spring Montgomery drove the ball to almost the exact same spot in the next at bat, putting runners on first and second. Danielle Estrada???s sacrifice bunt advanced the runners but St. John???s was not able to capitalize.
