Men??' Golf Finishes Third At BIG EAST Championships

The St. John???s men???s golf team took third place at the 2007 BIG EAST Championships with a three-round score of seven-over par 871. Junior co-captain Keegan Bradley earned All-BIG EAST honors for his performance and tied for eighth overall. Classmate George Zolotas and freshman Mike Ballo Jr. all finished in the top 20.
Bradley had a strong third round on the green, carding a four-under par 68, which was the lowest score of the day. He posted a two-under par 214 overall (70-76-68) and was named to the All-BIG EAST team after tying for eighth place.
Fellow co-captain Zolotas played consistently throughout the event, concluding the Championships with a one-over par 217 (73-71-73). He tied for 11th overall. Meanwhile, Ballo Jr. finished in 17th place in his first action at BIG EAST Championships. He posted a five-over par 221 (71-73-77).
Kevin Velardo and Dan Mollicone rounded out the top finishers for St. John???s. Velardo placed in the top 25, coming in at 24th with an eight-over par 228 (76-78-70). Mollicone posted a 10-over par 226 (75-77-74).
St. John's will now wait to see if it is selected for an at-large berth to the 2007 NCAA Championships. The announcement of the three 27-team regional fields will take place May 7 at 6 p.m. (ET) on www.ncaasports.com. The regionals will be held May 17-20 at Alpharetta, Ga. (East), Sugar Grove, Ill. (Central) and Tempe, Ariz. (West), with the finals slated for May 30-June 2 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club/Gold Course in Williamsburg, Va.
