Head men's soccer coach, Dr. Dave Masur, has announced tri-captains for the 2007 season. Senior goalkeeper Jason Landers, senior defender Jeff Stepan and junior defender Rory Quinn will captain the Red Storm.
Landers is coming a fantastic 2006 season in which he posted a 14-6-2 record with 13 shutouts. He is a 2007 preseason All-American and also the preseason Goalkeeper of the Year in the BIG EAST. "Jason has a tremendous presence on the team," said Masur. "His work ethic, preparation, communication and leadership have a significant impact on our squad."
Stepan was an Academic All-America in 2006, while adding four goals and two assists. "Jeff has worked his way up through the program to earn a continuous starting role while maintaining a 3.99 GPA as a pre-med student studying chemistry," Masur added. "His honesty, integrity and hard work speak volumes of Jeff as a person and as a player.
Quinn made 20 starts last year and added two assists. The junior will be making the transition to defense for the upcoming season. "Rory is a versatile player and has an impact on the game no matter what position he is playing," Masur stated. "He goes out of his way to help teammates off the field in every way possible. Rory also has an incredible will to excel and he is determined to dominate his position whether it is in a game or even in practice."
The Red Storm open the 2007 season on August 31 against Fairleigh Dickinson. The game starts at 8 p.m. and will be played at Belson Stadium.
