Monique McLean Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - St. John's women's basketball player Monique McLean has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the week ending Jan, 13, as announced by the league office on Monday.
McLean led the Red Storm (10-5, 1-1 BIG EAST) to its first conference win of the season, a 63-51 win over the University of South Florida on Jan. 8. The junior paced the way in scoring for the team with 19 points in the contest. The game marked the 10th time this season McLean finished first in scoring and her fifth-straight double-digit scoring effort. Ten of her points came in the second half, where she was especially strong down the stretch. With USF rallying for a comeback, she scored five points and came away with a steal to put the momentum back in St. John's favor.
She was 6-of-14 from the field, hitting 42.9 percent, was 2-for-4 from long distance and was perfect at the charity stripe with a 5-for-5 effort. Also strong on the defensive side, she pulled in six rebounds and tallied a block and a steal.
