QUEENS, N.Y. - The Red Storm women's golf team will open its season this coming March with four road events before heading into the BIG EAST Championship in April. St. John's first tournament takes place on March 7-8 at the Springlake Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois in Sebring, Fla. at the Springlake Golf Course.
"I am looking forward to the spring season," said head coach Ambry Bishop. "We have the potential to make a move up in the conference. I look for us to have a highly competitive and productive spring campaign."
St. John's is coming off its best finish of the season after taking third at the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 15. The team is paced by senior Brittany Lambertson who already has a win at the Yale Intercollegiate and a second place finish at Rutgers. "Brittany has shown what she is capable of and sets a great example for our other golfers," said Bishop.
The Red Storm will compete in their second tournament of the spring on March 15-17 in Port St. Lucie, Fla. at the PGA Village for the Rutgers Dual. The team will then head to Georgetown for the Hoya Women's Invitational at Four Streams Golf Course on March 30-31. The squad's final tournament before the BIG EAST Championship is the Roar EE Invitational, hosted by Columbia on April 6-7 at the Hampshire Country Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
The BIG EAST Championship will be hosted by the University of Cincinnati this year on April 20-22 at the Elks Run Country Club.
