No. 4 St. John's Men's Soccer Travels To DePaul For Red Division Contest

QUEENS, N.Y. - The No. 4 St. John's men's soccer team heads to DePaul for a BIG EAST Red Divsion matchup. The Red Storm (12-1-2, 6-1-1) takes to the field against the defending Red Division regular season champion Blue Demons (6-5-3, 4-3-1) at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25.

Inside The Series
- This will be just the 4th meeting between the two schools in a series that began in 2005 when DePaul joined the BIG EAST. DePaul leads the all-time series, 2-1-0.
- DePaul won, 2-0, when the teams met a year ago at Belson Stadium and prevailed, 2-1, in 2006. St. John's won the first-ever meeting, 1-0, in 2005.
Scouting The DePaul Blue Demons
- DePaul is 6-5-3 (4-3-1) this season and is coming off a 1-0 loss to Syracuse that ended a five-game (4-0-1) unbeaten streak.
- Steffen Vroom leads the offense with four goals, all game-winners, and two assists.
- Erick Reichman adds one goal and two assists, while Mark Plotkin, Peter Sterbenz and Patrick Hopkins have one goal apiece.
- Goalkeeper Brian Visser, the defending BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, is 6-5-3 with eight shutouts and a 0.55 goals against average.
- The Blue Demons finished 12-8-0 (7-4-0) in a year ago and won the BIG EAST Red Division regular season title. After a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament, DePaul defeated Cincinnati, 1-0, before falling to Notre Dame, 2-1, in the semifinals. The Blue Demons advanced to the NCAA Tournament, but fell in the opening round to Bradley, 2-0.

Chiduku Named BIG EAST Offensive Player Of The Week
- Trevor Chiduku scored a pair of goals, including a game-winner, in a 2-0-0 week for St. John's.
- The sophomore scored the first goal in a 3-1 win over Seton Hall. Chiduku then scored the game-winner against then-No. 12 USF in the 70th minute.
- Chiduku has tallied a goal in three-straight games, including two game-winners.
- The BIG EAST honor was the first of the sophomore's career. Chiduku also earned weekly team of the week honors from both Soccer America and College Soccer News.
Helland Becomes 13th Player To Tally A Goal
- Freshman Joakim Helland scored his first career goal, a game-winner, in a 3-1 win against Seton Hall.
- Helland is the 13th different player to tally a goal for St. John's.
