WASHINGTON, D.C - Georgetown University Director of Athletics Bernard Muir announced today that due to the outbreak of norovirus on campus, the women's soccer games against Syracuse on Friday at 3 p.m. and St. John's on Sunday at 1 p.m. will not be played.
"Because several members of the team have been infected and others have been exposed, and because the infection is contagious, after discussion between medical personnel at both universities and with Syracuse's and St. John's athletic administration and the BIG EAST, the decision has been made not to play the games. Make-up dates have not been reached at this time."
The Red Storm continues league action today at 4 p.m. when it faces Villanova at the Villanova Soccer Stadium. St. John's will return home for a four-game homestand starting Oct. 10 when it hosts Marquette at Belson Stadium at 7 p.m.
