History Lesson
• St. John's and Manhattan face each other for the 11th time in history. The Red Storm has dominated the all-time series, winning every contest for a perfect 10-0 record. The Red Storm has posted a 5-0 slate at home, a 4-0 record on the road and a 1-0 slate at a neutral site. The teams met frequently throughout the early 1980's, but only faced each other three times in the 1990's. The last game between them came on Dec. 12, 1998, with STJ coming away with the 69-58 win.
Scouting The Jaspers
• Manhattan enters the contest with a 1-2 record. After winning their season-opening game with St. Francis, 63-59, the Jaspers have lost their last two contests to UMass, 63-59, and Fordham, 62-49. Manhattan has been outshined offensively by its opponents on the season, as the Jaspers have been outshot 41.5 to 36.1 percent. The team has been relying on its 3-point shooting abilities and is averaging 36.8 percent (21-57) from downtown, while holding its opponents to 23.1 percent (9-39) behind the arc.
• Three players are averaging double-figures in scoring for Manhattan. Kelly Regan leads the Jasper offense with a team-high 11.7 points per game. Lindsey Loutsenhizer and Michelle Pacheco are a close second, averaging 10.7 and 10.3 ppg, respectively. Defensively, Loutsenhizer is averaging a team-best 5.3 rebounds per game, while Regan is grabbing 5.0 per contest.
McManmon Does It Again
• For the third time in her short career with the Red Storm, Kelly McManmon connected on five 3-pointers to tie for 10th in the single-game record books. After accomplishing the feat twice last season, she did it this season against Dartmouth on Nov. 18, going 5-of-7 from downtown.
Rookie Debut
• Rookie Da'Shena Stevens had two solid outings to start her freshman season at St. John's. In her collegiate debut against Northeastern on Nov. 14, she scored seven points and finished second with eight rebounds. She followed that performance with her first double-digit scoring game, scoring 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field against Dartmouth. In both contests, she was the first STJ player to sub into the game.
Stat Of The Week
