QUEENS, N.Y. -
- The Red Storm opens the season 5-0 for the fourth time in program history (1977-78, 2004-05 and 2005-06).
- With the victory, head coach Kim Barnes Arico earned her 91st program win at St. John's, evening her overall record at 91-91. The seventh-year coach needs just nine more wins for 100.
- Senior Monique McLean tallied a double-double for the Red Storm with 16 points and 11 rebounds. She now needs just nine points to pass Kerry Karst for sole possession of 10th place all-time in the St. John's scoring record books. The senior currently has 1,182 points in her four-year career.
- For the fourth time this season, the St. John's bench has outscored its opponents. Today, the Red Storm reserves totaled 23 points to Stony Brooks' nine, led by freshman Da'Shena Stevens' 11 points.
- Kelly McManmon continues to knock down 3-pointers. The senior had three treys for nine points and has connected on at least one from long distance in all five Red Storm games thus far.
- Joy McCorvey pulled down nine boards in the game and has multiple-rebounding efforts in each game for St. John's this season.
- Stevens had her third double-digit scoring performance of the young season, registering 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 shooting from the free-throw line.
