Monique McLean Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - St. John's women's basketball player Monique McLean has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday.
McLean led St. John's to a perfect 3-0 record on the week, while helping the team extend its winning streak to six games. The senior not only was the team's offensive leader averaging 15.7 points per game, she was also the team's defensive leader with an 8.0 rebounding average.
Playing and starting in all three games, she shot 45.2 percent (19-42) from the field and connected on 50.0 percent (7-14) of 3-point attempts, in addition to leading the team with eight steals and eight assists.
Against Stony Brook on Nov. 28, McLean scored a game-high 16 points and chipped in a team-best 11 rebounds to post her first double-double of the season to lead STJ to the 61-49 victory. McLean continued her strong offensive efforts in the Red Storm's game with Vermont on Nov. 30, scoring a season-high 24 points, including eight points in a clutch run in the second half to clinch the 70-58 win. With her scoring performance on Sunday, she surpassed the 1,200-point plateau and moved into 10th place in the STJ all-time scoring list with 1,206.
The Red Storm will return to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Monmouth to Carnesecca Arena at 7 p.m.
