Women's Basketball Opens Three-Game Homestand On Tuesday

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team (8-1) returns to Carnesecca Arena and opens a three-game homestand when it welcomes Howard on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
• RedStormSports.com will stream the game live through StormTracker All-Access presented by Allstate. The contest will have a live video and audio broadcast, which will feature a multi-camera setup, a scoreboard and advanced production capabilities. Fans can access the feature by going to RedStormSports.com, clicking on the All-Access button and signing up for the service. The All-Access subscription is $9.95 a month or $79.95 for the year. There will also be live stats for the contest that can be accessed for free.
History Lesson
• The contest between St. John's and Howard marks the sixth meeting between the schools. The Red Storm holds the all-time series record, 4-1, and has a 2-1 slate at home, a 1-0 record on the road and a 1-0 mark at a neutral site. Four of the five meetings between STJ and Howard came during the 1980's, with the Red Storm posting a 3-1 record during that time. The series was renewed on Nov. 28, 2003, as St. John's came away with the 89-57 victory at the University of Rhode Island Tournament.
Scouting The Bison
• Howard enters the contest winless on the year with a 0-7, 0-1 MEAC record. Four of its seven games have been on the road. The Bison have had a tough time on both the offensive and defensive side. Its offense has struggled getting into motion and has been outscored by an average of 16.9 points per game. On the defensive side, Howard is averaging 37.9 rebounds per game, which is 4.3 less that its opponents.
• Only one player is averaging double figures in scoring for Howard. Zykia Brown leads the way with 15.1 points per game. She has played and started in all seven games and is shooting 40.4 from the field (38-of-94). She also leads the squad with 10 steals. On the defensive side, Tamaya Daniels is averaging a team-best 7.0 rebounds per contest. Morgan Neal is a close second with 5.0 per game.

McManmon Etches Name In Career Record Books
• With five 3-pointers made against LIU on Dec. 13, Kelly McManmon made her debut in the career record books. The senior now sits in ninth place with 85 long-distance baskets made in her short two-year career with the Red Storm. McManmon is only one away from tying Yvonne Wilson for eighth and eight away from tying Kim MacMillan for seventh in 3's.
