QUEENS, N.Y. - Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
On Britney Murphy:
"I think Britney can be a great defender. Sometimes she gets to close and bumps which leads to silly fouls that put the other team on the free throw line. Tonight it didn't hurt us, but down the road it could. I think she's capable of being a great defender, probably one of the best that we have. She just has to get smarter about picking and choosing her spots to get better position."
On the upcoming Holiday Classic:
"We're playing some tough teams and good competition this weekend. This will be a test for our players because we'll be playing back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday and some of our girls play heavy minutes. Ten games into the season, I feel we are better as a team but we're going to need everyone to step up."
Thoughts on the game:
"I thought we came out and played great. The kids did a nice job and we shared the basketball. I thought, however, that we let up down the stretch and had a few too many turnovers. I would like to finish with 40 good minutes."
Freshman Guard Britney Murphy
On transitioning to the college game:
"The transition hasn't been too hard because my teammates help me out and tell me things that I need to know to be a better player."
Senior Guard Monique McLean
On what she can learn from this game:
"We need to work on playing hard for the whole 40 minutes. We turned the ball over too much down the stretch and put Howard on the line with some fouls."
