Women's Basketball Hosts Villanova on Saturday

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when it hosts BIG EAST rival Villanova on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game is a doubleheader with the men's team, who face Providence at noon.
• The contest is designated as the "Pack The House" game. As part of the efforts to promote the event, the St. John's Athletic Department has designated the game as "$1 Night," with tickets, as well as select food and merchandise items being offered for just a dollar. In addition, all fans in attendance at the St. John's men's game vs. Providence at noon on Saturday are invited to attend the women's game free of charge. There will be several giveaways during the game, including a Sabatino's Pizza Giveaway and T-shirt toss.
• The game will feature live stats and will have video and audio streamed on the internet. Fans can go to RedStormSports.com to access both features. Streaming will be subscription-based through "StormTracker All-Access." The cost for the service is either $9.95 per month or $79.95 for the year. Live stats will be free the entire season.
• St. John's is coming off a loss to Georgetown on Wednesday, 61-60, dropping the team's record to 12-10, 3-6 BIG EAST. The setback snapped the Red Storm's two-game win streak. Monique McLean turned in another solid offensive performance, leading the team with 23 points. However, that wasn't enough as Georgetown fought its way back into the game, overcoming a double-digit deficit to walk away with the win.
The Series With The Wildcats
• The game between the Red Storm and the Wildcats is the 48th meeting all-time between the schools. Villanova leads the series 29-18. St. John's, however, has won the last two meetings and has faired better at Carnesecca Arena with a 10-9 record at home.

• The Red Storm has outscored its opponents this season by an average of 4.2 points. The team is averaging 67.7 points per game, while its opposition nets 63.5 per contest.
• St. John's is also more effective in its shooting, both overall and from long range. The team is connecting on 40.9 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from downtown, while holding its opponents to 38.1 from the field and 29.1 from 3-point range.
• On the defensive side, St. John's has been a menace to other teams this year thanks to its shot blocking. The team is swatting an average of 4.1 balls per game and has out-blocked its opponent on 12 occasions.
McLean Unstoppable On Offense
• Over the last three games, Monique McLean has been on fire for the Red Storm. The junior has turned in three-straight 20-point performances and has averaged 22.3 points per game during that span. She snapped out of an offensive slump and has led the team in the points column, netting 20 against Seton Hall, 24 against Marquette and 23 against Georgetown.
On Deck
• The St. John's women's basketball team will continues its homestand on Wednesday when it welcomes Louisville to Carnesecca Arena. The contest marks the fourth meeting all-time between the teams, with the Cardinals holding the edge, 2-1.
