Women's Basketball Signee Earns Season Honors

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's basketball signee Britney Murphy, who is expected to join the Red Storm in the fall of 2008, has been named Class A first team All-State and most valuable player of the Saginaw Valley League.
The senior averaged 16.7 points, 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game for Arthur Hill High in Saginaw, Mich. She is a four-year starter at point guard and helped lead her team to three-consecutive state semifinal appearances. Murphy, 5-5, was named a preseason honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith's and is a 2007-08 McDonald's All-America nominee. A floor leader who can distribute the ball and score, Murphy played AAU ball for the Michigan Crossover and led the club to the 2007 state championship.
