QUEENS, N.Y. - Wednesday's home opener versus Yale has been rained out. The double-header, the first for St. John's at Red Storm field this year, will now be postponed indefinitely.
The Red Storm and the Bulldogs were scheduled to play a 2:30 p.m. contest in Queens and would have been the season home opener for St. John's and the first game of the season for Yale. This is the second year in a row a double-header between the two teams has been cancelled. Last season's rainout came at Dewitt Family Field in New Haven, Conn.
St. John's is tied in the all-time series with Yale 11-11-1, but is 2-1-1 when facing the Bulldogs at Red Storm Field.
St. John's recently returned from a 10 day, 12 game, California road trip which saw the team go 3-5 over its final eight games, picking up big wins over Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State, who was receiving votes in both the polls.
The softball squad's next game is scheduled for March 8 at 1 p.m. versus Rider in Lawrenceville, N.J.
