QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's basketball head coach Kim Barnes Arico gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday morning. Cecelia Arico was born at 2:15 a.m. and weighed seven pounds, four ounces, while measuring 19.5 inches long.
This is the third child for Barnes Arico and her husband Larry Arico, who have a son, Trevor Arico, six, and a daughter, Emma Arico, two.
In only six years at the helm of the St. John's women's basketball program, Barnes Arico has led the Red Storm to unprecedented success. STJ has advanced to five straight BIG EAST Tournaments, captured its first NCAA Tournament berth in over 17 years in 2006, and made two trips to the Women's National Invitation Tournament, including a trip to the quarterfinals this year. Leading three teams to postseason play, Barnes Arico became the first Red Storm coach in over 20 years to accomplish the feat.
