QUEENS, N.Y. - In the midst of another amazing win by Tiger Woods, the St. John's golf program enjoyed its own triumphs this past weekend. The Red Storm saw former captain and star Andrew Svoboda compete in his first ever US Open, as well as this past year's co-captains Keegan Bradley and George Zolotas play in the Vermont Open.
Svoboda, who was called upon at the last moment and did not even get a practice round on day one, had an outstanding Open, making the cut each round. The Larchmont, N.Y. native finished tied for 71st, with a seven-over 300 (77, 71, 74, 78).
Last season's senior standouts Bradley and Zolotas competed in their first tournament as graduates of St. John's. The two finished in the top-20 of the Vermont Open at the Lake Morey CC in Fairlee, Vt. Bradley finished tied for 11th with an even-par 210 (70, 69, 71). Zolotas tied for 18th overall with a three over 213 (72, 73, 68).
