NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The St. John's women's basketball team played No. 10/4 Notre Dame tough and came close to pulling off the upset, but the Fighting Irish posted the 70-67 win at the Joyce Center on Saturday.
Monique McLean once again paced the way for the Red Storm, leading the second-half charge to score 14 of her 17 points. McManmon attempted a 3-pointer from the corner for St. John's (13-4, 1-3 BIG EAST), but Lindsay Schrader blocked it at the buzzer as Notre Dame (15-2, 4-1 BIG EAST) hung on for the win.
The teams traded the lead five times in the last six minutes, including four times on four possessions. The final time came when Erica Solomon scored inside with 1:24 left to give the Irish a 67-66 lead.
