QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's softball head coach Amy Kvilhaug, along with assistant coaches Laura Taylor and Andy Russo, will host a winter softball clinic on February 7, 2009. The hitting session will begin at noon, with a pitching and catching clinic following at 3 p.m.
The hitting clinic will focus on improving general skills in the art of hitting in an effort to create a competitive and fundamentally sound hitter. Coaches will also provide drills that can be practiced at home to foster improvement.
In the pitching and catching session, attendees will be educated about the fundamentals of solid pitching and taught several different pitches. The coaches on hand will provide drills to take home and continue skill advancement. Catchers will also be given specific drills in order to improve proper catching technique.
Players should bring their own sneakers and gloves and hitters should bring their own bats. Catchers must bring their own catching equipment.
The clinic will take place at the newly-renovated Carnesecca Arena in Queens, N.Y. Each session is $85, which must be paid in full. Checks can be made out to Amy Kvilhaug. Players must register by February 3rd.
