SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The St. John's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Seton Hall (11-16, 5-6 BIG EAST) on Friday evening in South Orange as the Red Storm fell behind early. St. John's falls to 9-18 (2-9 BIG EAST) on the season. The Red Storm got a double double from junior Kun Song as she recorded 11 kills and 10 digs.
Seton Hall controlled the first set as the Red Storm faced a 16-7 deficit before coming within four at 21-17. The Pirates scored four of the final five points of the set to win it, 25-18. Song and sophomore Darlene Ramdin each had three kills a piece.
The Red Storm would score the first two points of the second set with kills from Jordan Haskins and Song before the Pirates raced to a 13-6 lead. An 8-3 run by St. John's brought the Red Storm back into action, closing the gap to two, 16-14. A 7-3 run from the Pirates followed to make it 23-17. The Red Storm would come within two, 24-22 before the Pirates notched set-point for the 25-22 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, Seton Hall led for the entire set, winning it 25-15. Song tallied three kills in the set and teammate Ashley Asing added six digs.
Song led the squad with 11 kills and 10 digs for her 12th double-double of the year. Asing led the team with 15 digs.
St. John's continues its four-game road stretch on Sunday, Nov. 8, traveling to Rutgers for a 2 p.m. first serve.
