Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Opening statement:
"I thought our team did a great job on the defensive end today. That's something we've really been stressing. We didn't finish the game strong but we came out and gave them a lot of pressure. They are a really well-coached team. I thought we did what we wanted to do. I'm proud of the effort that we gave tonight."
On defensive pressure:
"That was our goal going in. That's all we worked on the last two weeks. They know that if they're not going to play defense then they are not going to play. I think they came out wanting to make that type of commitment on the floor."
On scoring:
"I think one of the strengths of our team is our ability to score. When we get out in transition we are at our best. We have multiple people that can score at any time. "
On Nadirah McKenith:
"Nadirah has unbelievable quickness at the point guard position. She can really create and get us a lot of open shots and she can get the ball up the floor really well. She's a tremendous addition to our team."
Sophomore Forward Da'Shena Stevens
On defensive pressure:
"I thought we came out with a lot of energy. We knew what we wanted to do. We wanted to get out there and force some turnovers. I think we did that from the beginning. We kind of fell off in the second half. That's just something we continue to work on."
On the freshmen:
"They've been really important. It's good when they can come in and continue to give us sparks. Eugeneia McPherson did well today, coming in to hit some big shots. For us to have a continuous rotation of people who could come in and contribute is good for us."
