Women's Basketball Opens Two-Game Homestand Hosting Seton Hall

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Carnesecca Arena and opens a two-game homestand on Wednesday when it welcomes Seton Hall at 7 p.m.

History Lesson
• The contest between St. John's and Seton Hall is the 56th meeting all-time. The Red Storm has the edge in the series, 30-25, including winning three-straight and seven of the last nine. Both teams have had better success on their respective home courts, as STJ has a 15-10 record at home and SHU has a 14-11 slate. The Red Storm has done well at neutral sites with a 4-1 mark. This is the second meeting this season between the teams, with STJ coming away with the 89-84 victory on the road on Feb. 1.
Scouting The Pirates
• Seton Hall enters the game with a 15-11, 3-10 BIG EAST record. The Pirates have lost four-straight and eight of their last 10 games. The last SHU win came on Feb. 4 at West Virginia, a 55-47 victory. On the season, the Pirates are averaging 67.1 points per game to outscore its opponents by a margin of 4.4. SHU is strong on the defensive side, outrebounding its competition by an average of 6.6 per contest.
• The Pirates have one player averaging a double-double and two others that are averaging double-digits in scoring. Noteisha Womack is averaging a double-double with 12.7 points and a team-high 11.3 rebounds. The senior is also leading the squad with a 54.3 field goal percentage, going 114-of-210. Ebonie Williams leads SHU in scoring, averaging 13.3 points. She is shooting 42.4 from the floor, going 129-of-304, and is leading the team with 40 3-pointers made. Junior Nicole Emery rounds out the double-figure scorers, netting 11.2 ppg, and she is averaging 39.2 from the field.

Stevens Top Rookie In BIG EAST
• Freshman Da'Shena Stevens is making an impact in her first season with the Red Storm and has put up some impressive numbers. Through Feb. 22 games, Stevens is ranked No. 1 in scoring and rebounding among all freshmen in the BIG EAST. In addition, she is the only rookie averaging double figures in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game. Her rebounding average of 6.7 is the 13th highest in the country among all her fellow classmates.
New Personal Bests At Marquette
• Junior Joy McCorvey and sophomore Sheree Ledbetter set new career highs at Marquette on Feb. 21. McCorvey recorded a game-high five steals, surpassing her previous mark of four. Ledbetter posted her first-career multi-assist game with two helpers. Stevens tied her career-best with four assists in the outing.
On Deck
• St. John's closes out its home regular-season schedule hosting Rutgers on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Red Storm will celebrate its 12th annual Women In Sports Day with special guest Olympic Gold Medalist Jennie Finch, while the women's basketball team raises money for breast cancer research designating its BIG EAST contest as its Pink Zone game. All funds raised will be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
