QUEENS, N.Y. - Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Thoughts on the game:
"It was a tough battle. We made runs and had opportunities but couldn't really get our offensive flow going. It was a good game and Boston College is a good team. They were very physical and they came at us right from the start. It's a tough way to lose but I'm proud of the way the team came together this year."
Freshman Forward Da'Shena Stevens
On the team's struggles:
"Our offense couldn't get in rhythm and we were outrebounded. I think they got a lot of second chance points because we went after their shooters and that allowed their big girls to go in and get the rebounds."
Sophomore Guard Sky Lindsay
On the team:
"One thing that people should notice about us is that we never give up. Even if we're down, we've never given up in a single game this year. Even though we may have lost some games, we always gave our best effort."
Head Coach Sylvia Crawley
Thoughts on the game:
"I'm extremely proud of this team and on how they fought back and held on to the lead. I challenged this team to move from good to great and come out of their comfort zone and play hard. We knew this game would be tough. St. John's is a very good team and they are good at penetrating to the basket and drawing fouls. I thought the key for tonight's victory was to win on the boards. We've outrebounded our opponents in every game except for six and every time we get outrebounded by an opponent we lose and one of those times was against St. John's. I was proud the way we crashed the boards and got second chance points. I'm very proud of this team."
Sophomore Forward Stefanie Murphy
On playing against St. John's:
"I never had a good showing against St. John's. The first match up this year was a tough showing. Today, I just wanted to have a good night. I just did whatever I could to help my team win. Whether it was getting a rebound, making a pass or playing good defense. Every little thing counted. I just didn't want tonight to be my last game or any of our seniors last game."
