St. John's Ends Regular-Season Schedule At Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The St. John's softball team (24-23, 11-11) wraps up its regular-season schedule vs. Georgetown (15-29, 6-13) in a doubleheader at noon at Guy Mason Field in Washington, D.C.

• St. John's leads the all-time series, 1-0. The two teams met earlier this season at the Blue and Golf Felsburg Memorial Tournament hosted by FIU, and the Red Storm shut out the Hoyas, 7-0.
• STJ is coming off a doubleheader split vs. FDU on Wednesday. The Red Storm was topped 3-0 in game one but rebounded in game two to record a 2-0 victory.
• Sophomore pitcher Kat Lawrence was nearly unhittable vs. the Knights, as she spanned 11 innings while striking out 19 and allowed just six hits in two appearances, including a complete game shutout in game two.
STORM FRONT
• Senior Roxy Struble continues to lead the Red Storm offense, pacing the team in batting average (.399), hits (57), home runs (8), RBI (33), total bases (92), and slugging percentage (.643). The senior is now third in the BIG EAST in batting average. Struble has also transitioned to shortstop after beginning the season as a corner infielder.
• Sophomore starter Linzee Sumrall has a team-leading 195 strikeouts in 151.2 innings. Sumrall totes an 11-11 record and 2.95 ERA, and her three saves pace the squad.
• Classmate Lawrence has kept up in the K department, striking out 180 batters in 154.2 innings this year. The right-hander is second paces the squad with a 2.76 ERA and her 13-11 also leads the team.
• Sophomore leadoff hitter Chelsea Durning continues to be the sparkplug for the Red Storm offense. The outfielder leads St. John's in runs (35), doubles (15), triples (1), walks (18), HBP (11) and on-base percentage (.461), and is second on the squad in batting average (.350) and hits (48).
• Sophomore Kacee Cox has transitioned to catcher after playing most of 2008 at third base. Cox has kept her power numbers up as she leads the team with eight home runs and is second on the squad with 30 RBI.
• Junior transfer Stacia Dopudja has moved into the cleanup spot in the Red Storm lineup and has provided power in the middle of the order for St. John's. Dopudja has also played well in conference games leads the team with four home runs. She is also second on the team in BIG EAST games with 20 hits, and third with 10 RBI.
• Junior outfielder Shauntaine Harris has played well in BIG EAST games this season, and has seven runs, five doubles, a home run, six RBI and a team-leading four steals against conference foes.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
• The Georgetown Hoyas are 15-29 this season and 6-13 in the team's first season in the BIG EAST Conference after going 21-35 a year ago.
• The Hoyas are batting .228 as a squad and has a team ERA of 3.26.
• Georgetown is led by head coach Pat Conlan who is 37-99 in three season with GU and 91-188 overall.
• Kelsie Hanson paces the squad with a .318 batting average in 44 games this year. She also has 14 runs, three doubles, two triples and five stolen bases.
• Mackensey Carter is second on the team with a .316 average, nine doubles, five home runs and 22 RBI.
• Kristi Preuss is second on the squad with seven doubles, four home runs and 18 RBI while Samantha Peters leads the team with 11 stolen bases.
• Jennifer Connell has been the teams ace this season and leads the team in ERA (3.06), wins (11), appearances (30), games started (25), complete games (19), innings pitched (162.1) and strikeouts (99).
• Carter is second on the team with a 3.12 ERA, 11 complete games and 56 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched.
