Lawrence Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Kat Lawrence was selected to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as announced by the Conference on Monday. Lawrence boasted a 0.27 ERA in four appearances over the past week.
The sophomore did it all over the past four games for the Red Storm, as she made an appearance in every game for St. John's, including two starts and two stints in relief.
Lawrence allowed just one earned run in 25.2 innings and picked up her fifth shutout and 16th complete game of the season against FDU at Red Storm Field this past Wednesday.
The Rohnert Park, Calif., native was near un-hittable in a relief appearance against conference-foe Georgetown as she scattered just three hits in 6.1 innings pitched, while striking out eight. In game two vs. the Hoyas, Lawrence went 8.1 innings, allowing no earned runs while battling GU's MacKensey Carter, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
Lawrence looks to lead the Red Storm pitching staff into its first BIG EAST Tournament appearance since 2006 after helping STJ to a program best, 11 conference wins this year.
St. John's travels to Louisville, Ky. to play a first round matchup vs. the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The two teams split its regular-season matchup in Notre Dame. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at 4 p.m.
