Struble And Dopudja Selected To BIG EAST All-Conference Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Roxy Struble and junior Stacia Dopudja were named to the BIG EAST All-Conference teams as selected by the conference head coaches. Struble made the first team as a utility player and Dopudja was named to second team as a designated player.
Struble was the team's offensive leader all season long as she paced the squad with a .385 batting average which was good enough for sixth in the conference. The infielder also led the team with 57 hits, 33 RBI, a .622 slugging percentage and a .446 on-base percentage.
This is the sixth time this season and 10th time in her career that Struble has been honored by the BIG EAST Conference. The Chino, Calif., native was selected to the Conference Honor Roll five times this year and also boasts two honor roll selections in 2006 and was a BIG EAST third team selection in her sophomore season.
Dopudja was a welcome addition to the Red Storm this season as she transferred from Southeast Missouri State. The designated player was third on St. John's with a .272 batting average, eight doubles, seven home runs and 19 RBI. She was a force in BIG EAST play as well, upping her average 28 points against conference foes and added four home runs and 10 RBI while spending most of the season in the cleanup spot.
Struble and Dopudja have helped to St. John's to one of its greatest all-time seasons as the 2009 squad opened the year with a 7-3 record, its best start since 2009. This year's team also set a program record with 11 conference victories and is in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2006.
St. John's plays its first BIG EAST Tournament game in three years in a first round matchup vs. the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The two teams split its regular-season matchup in Notre Dame. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at 4 p.m.
