Barsley Named BigAppleSoccer.com Women's Player Of The Week

QUEENS, N.Y. - After helping lead her team to two wins over the weekend, including a 2-1 upset victory over then-No. 12 USC on Sunday, St. John's women's soccer player Vaila Barsley was named the BigAppleSoccer.com Women's Player of the Week.
Barsley was the Red Storm's offensive leader, scoring a pair of goals over the weekend for a team-best four points. She scored the golden goal - her first ever - in overtime to lead the Red Storm to a 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton. She saw action in all 93 minutes and helped anchor the stingy defensive unit for the shutout.
On Sunday, she helped STJ pull off the upset win over then-No. 12 USC at McAlister Field. The senior scored the first goal of the game, while holding the potent USC offense to only one score in the 2-1 victory.
For her efforts this weekend, Barsley was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday. Also with the 2-0 start on the year, the Red Storm entered the Soccer America poll on Monday with a No. 18 ranking.
The Red Storm will look to continue its winning streak on Friday when it returns to Belson Stadium for its home opener when it welcomes New Hampshire at 7:30 p.m.
