QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's women's basketball player Kelly McManmon has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, as announced by the league office.
The senior led the team in scoring last week and helped STJ post a perfect 2-0 record in BIG EAST action with wins over Seton Hall, 60-40, and DePaul, 68-51. McManmon averaged 13.0 points and was highly effective from the field, shooting 61.5 percent on an 8-of-13 effort. Seven of her eight field goals were beyond the arc, as STJ's all-time 3-point scorer connected on 7-of-12 from long distance for a 58.3 3-point field goal percentage.
McManmon's biggest game of the week was when she scored a game-high 15 points at DePaul on Saturday, leading the Red Storm to only its second win in five tries over the Blue Demons. The win was also the first for STJ in Chicago and snapped the Blue Demons eight-game home winning streak. McManmon finished the game 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range. She also contributed three steals in the win, and was the only double-digit STJ scorer against DePaul.
Against Seton Hall, she was one of two double-digit scorers for the Red Storm, chipping in 11 points on a 3-of-5 effort.
St. John's will host USF at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 23 at 2:30 p.m. The game is a doubleheader with the men's team, who host Villanova at noon.
