Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Opening Statement:
"I was really proud of our effort today. I thought we played extremely hard. We weren't perfect at times, but we played extremely hard. And I thought that everybody that entered the game for us did a real nice job, and the bench gave us a spark. We stepped up and I think this was a really big win for us today."
On freshman Eugeneia McPherson:
"She's a sparkplug for us. She's one of our toughest kids, our best workers, and she is just getting better and better everyday. I told her at the beginning of the year, that a goal for her should be sixth player of the year in our conference. Our conference is incredibly tough, so I don't know if she'll be up for that. But for us, she's invaluable. She does a tremendous job, she gives us a spark and I love her role and she just keeps improving day in and day out."
Junior Guard Sky Lindsay
On the team's slow start:
"The slow start? I think it just took us a while to get into it, but once we got into it and our fans started cheering and got a little excited, we remembered we were on a winning streak and we wanted to keep our winning streak. We eventually got back to it and got that W."
Senior Forward Joy McCorvey
On how important this game was after the Syracuse game:
"It was very important and as a team we all knew it was very important to come focused and ready to go."
On playing against taller players:
"You just do. You fight. You hustle. You just try to get around them. We work on it in practice. We have players in practice that push us, that are bigger and taller than us and you get that experience in practice. We practice how we play, so you do it in practice and in the game, it's just the same."
On what Kim Barnes Arico said to ignite the run at the end of the first half: nbsp;
"She said, 'Make sure we keep it up.' We had like 2:30 left. She said make sure we keep up the energy. There's only two minutes left. We have situations like that in practice, so we practice like that every day. In the last two minutes, you're fired up, you want to break away and not give the other team momentum, so we try to play really hard so we can go in with a boost at halftime."
On the possibility of an NCAA Tournament berth:
"Words can't even describe it. It feels great. We have the team. We have the talent. Coach has been telling us that since day one. If we play hard, we stick together, we play as a family, we play as a team, and carry out the potential that she sees in us, then we can do big things. Everybody bought into that. Everybody believes in each other. The coaches believe in us, so we keep playing hard and we have room to grow. We can keep getting better every day, which is a good thing. So, we're doing good now, but we still have room to grow."
On difference between this year's and last year's teams:
"Obviously we have a lot of talent this year, from the point guard to the post. We have talent everywhere. We have depth this year that we didn't have last year. We just have a lot of hard-working people that are determined to get this job done. We have a goal and everybody is focused on the goal."
