Red Storm Travels To Face Cincinnati On Sunday

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's basketball team will take its first BIG EAST road trip of the season when it travels to face Cincinnati on Sunday at 2 p.m.
• There will be a live video stream on UCBearcats.com for a fee. There will also be an audio broadcast and live stats available for free on UCBearcats.com.
• STJ is off to a 13-2, 1-1 BIG EAST start this season and continues to garner votes in both Top 25 Polls this week, receiving six points in each poll during week eight.
History Lesson
• The contest between St. John's and Cincinnati is the fifth meeting in history between the teams. The Red Storm has won every contest since the series started during the 2005-06 campaign. Last year, STJ defeated the Bearcats 60-53 on Feb. 8, 2009 at MSG.
Scouting The Bearcats
• Cincinnati enters the game with a 7-7, 0-2 BIG EAST record. The Bearcats entered league action on a three-game winning streak before suffering losses to Louisville, 63-49, and UConn, 83-51. Three UC players are averaging double figures in scoring. Kahla Roudebush leads the team with 11.6 points per game and is the second-leading rebounder, grabbing 5.4 per game. Carla Jacobs is scoring 10.9 points per game, while Shareese Ulis is contributing 10.5 points per game. Michelle Jones is the Bearcats' leading rebounder, averaging 6.9 boards per game.
Marquette Postgame Notes
• The Red Storm won its first BIG EAST game of the season with a 71-58 victory over Marquette on Jan. 5.
• Sophomore forward Da'Shena Stevens led the Red Storm with 18 points and 12 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. She tied her season high with seven offensive rebounds against the Golden Eagles.
• The Red Storm's 13-point win marked its largest margin of victory over Marquette in history. St. John's last defeated Marquette 77-67 on Feb. 2, 2008, at Carnesecca Arena.
• Shenneika Smith netted 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field. The freshman guard has scored in double figures in 12 of the Red Storm's 15 contests.
McManmon Close To Holding Record
• With two treys against Marquette, Kelly McManmon edged closer to holding the career 3-point record at St. John's. The senior is only two treys away from breaking the record held by Monique McLean with 172. McManmon currently has 171 career treys.
Barnes Arico Tied For Second All-Time In Wins
• Head coach Kim Barnes Arico has led the Red Storm to unprecedented success while at the helm of the program. Through eight seasons, she has amassed 118 program victories, tying Don Perrelli for the second most wins all-time at St. John's. She knotted Perrelli with a 71-58 win over Marquette on Jan. 5.
McKenith Ties The Record
• With a 10-for-10 effort from the charity stripe against Marquette on Jan. 5, Nadirah McKenith tied the St. John's single-game record with a 1.000 free-throw percentage. The last time the feat was accomplished was when Rasheedah Brown connected on 10-of-10 on Dec. 1, 2001 vs. Alabama State.
Top 25 In RPI
• In the latest RPI report generated on CollegeRPI.com, the Red Storm is ranked No. 24 and has the sixth best RPI among BIG EAST schools.
Climbing Up The Charts
• With 11 rebounds against Stetson on Dec. 1, Joy McCorvey entered the top 10 on St. John's all-time rebounding list, tying Marianne Noonan for ninth place with 597. The senior has grabbed 125 total rebounds this season and now sits in fifth place with 673 career boards. She is 11 away from surpassing Kerry Karst (683) and moving to fourth place.

• The Red Storm will return home on Tuesday and host Seton Hall at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on CBS College Sports.
