Princeton vs. St. John's Notes - March 20, 2010
St. John's
- With the 65-47 win, St. John's advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history and second time under head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
- The victory makes St. John's all-time NCAA Tournament record 3-4 and improves Kim Barnes Arico to 2-0 all-time in NCAA First Round games. The Red Storm last appeared in the second round in 2006 when they advanced by beating California, 75-68 in the opening round. STJ then lost a close contest to eventual national champion, Maryland, 81-74.
- Shenneika Smith set a new career high with 12 rebounds. The rebounds, coupled with her 13 points, gave her the third double-double of her career. Smith now has 402 points on the season and is only five points away from breaking the freshman scoring record of 406 that was set last year by BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Da'Shena Stevens.
- Centhya Hart recorded her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
- Da'Shena Stevens tied the Donald L. Tucker Center record for field goals made with nine.
- Sky Lindsay tied a personal best with three steals.
- St. Johns tied the Donald L. Tucker Center record with 18 attempted free throws.
- St. John's held Princeton without a field goal for 9:20 in the first half, from the 12:12 mark until 2:56.
- The Red Storm defense kept Princeton to 1-of-16 shooting over the final 12:24 of the game.
- With a 25-6 record, the Red Storm has recorded its most victories since it finished 28-6 in 1982-83 and won the BIG EAST Conference Tournament Championship. The 25 wins are a program high for eighth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico, surpassing her previous best of 22 in 2005-06.
- The Red Storm now owns a 4-0 record all-time against Princeton.
