St. John's Ties For Seventh At Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - The St. John's men's golf team tied for seventh at the Princeton Invitational this weekend at Springdale Golf Club.
The Red Storm shot 300-300-293-893 (+41) for the weekend, tying for seventh with Georgetown in the 15-team event. Yale won the tournament with a 294-289-291-874 (+22) and beat out Harvard, which also carded an 874, in a playoff. Yale's Tom McCarthy was the top individual at 67-70-73-210 (-3).
Peter Ballo led St. John's with a 70-77-73-220 (+7) on the par-71, 6390-yard course and tied for 14th. Ballo's 1-under 70 in the first round tied for the 12th-best single round score in the tournament. Evan Beirne also placed in the top 25, tying for 22nd at 75-75-73-223 (+10). Beirne's 4.09 par-4 shot average tied for the eighth-best mark in the tournament.
Mike Ballo Jr. and Mark Costanza tied for 32nd after each carded a 225 (+12). Costanza's 12 birdies ranked second in the field and Ballo's 10 birdies tied for sixth. Jeremy Quinn tied for 71st overall at 237 (+24).
The Red Storm next heads to Innisbrook, Fla., to compete in the BIG EAST Championship April 18-20 at the Copperhead Course of Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club.
