QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's alum Shalrie Joseph has been named to the MLS All-Star team for the seventh-consecutive season. The 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star game will pit the MLS All-Stars against Manchester United on July 28 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The 8:30 p.m. game will be televised by ESPN2.
Selected to the 23-man squad by MLS All-Star manager Bruce Arena, the midfielder has recorded three assists in seven games this year for the New England Revolution.
One of three finalists for the 2009 Volkswagen MLS MVP award, Joseph notched career-highs in both goals (8) and assists (8) a year ago. The midfielder was also named to the MLS Best XI, an honor presented to the league's top 11 players, for the third-straight season in 2009 and for the fourth-time in his career. Four of his seven all-star selections have been of the First XI variety as one of the top vote getters at his position.
Among this year's First XI All-Stars are Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle, both of the Los Angeles Galaxy.
