TEAM NOTES
- With the win, St. John's (14-5, 3-3) improves to 5-1 all-time against Cincinnati (8-9, 1-4) and 3-0 as the home team.
- Since the beginning of 2009-10 season, St. John's is 20-3 at home, including a 7-2 mark in 2010-11.
- The 34 points scored by Cincinnati are the fewest since Nov. 25, 2007 when St. John's defeated Dartmouth, 74-31, at Carnesecca Arena.
- St. John's held Cincinnati to a season-low 11 points and three field goals in the opening half of play. It's the ninth time this season the Red Storm has held its opponent to 22 points or less in the first half.
- With the help of six Bearcat turnovers in the opening 4:36, the Red Storm used runs of 9-0 and 20-1 to close out the opening frame with a 30-11 lead. STJ held Cincinnati without a field goal for the last 9:28 of the first half and a total of 10:30 of game time.
- The Red Storm remains unbeaten (10-0) when recording more assists than its opponent. STJ dished out 13 assists on the game compared to Cincinnati's seven.
- STJ shot 45.3 percent in the game, which improves the team to 10-1 on the season when shooting between 40-49 percent.
- St. John's has outscored opponents, 397-245, in points off turnovers and has scored at least 20 points or more off turnovers in seven games this season. It's the second game in a row STJ has scored 20 points off turnovers.
- The Red Storm played in front of 2,419 fans on its inaugural Field Trip Day, the most in Carnesecca Arena since a 69-42 win over Villanova on Feb. 27, 2010 (2,700).
- Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico improves to 144-118 at St. John's and 238-190 overall.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- St. John's had three players score in double figures, including a game-high 14 points from both Da'Shena Stevens and Shenneika Smith.
- With her 14 points, Stevens passed Latasha Thompson for 13th-place on the all-time scoring list with 1,081.
- Senior guard Sky Lindsay scored 11 points in the game to bring her career-total to 918, just 82 points shy of becoming the program's 18th player to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. It was Lindsay's first double-digit scoring performance since Dec. 19, 2010 against UCSB.
- Senior forward Centhya "Coco" Hart tied a career-high and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, the best since sophomore Nadirah McKenith recorded the same numbers at Kansas State (Nov. 13).
- McKenith finished the game with seven points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals and hit her first-career 3-point bucket.
