QUEENS, N.Y. - Head men's soccer coach Dr. Dave Masur will hold his annual Preseason Youth Tournament on March 5-6 at Belson Stadium, one of the premier venues in collegiate soccer. The tournament is open to boys and girls that are in the eighth grade or below and will have the age groups of U-7, U-8, U-9, U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13 and U-14.
The Preseason Youth Tournament features a minimum of three 30-minute games per team with a final number to be determined based on the amount of teams registered. Games will be played in a 7-on-7 format and registration is $275 per team.
Home of the St. John's men's and women's soccer teams, Belson Stadium is a 2,300 seat, state-of-the-art facility built in 2002 and made possible by the generous donations of Maxine and Jermone Belson.
A two-time National Coach of the Year, Masur led St. John's an NCAA National Championship in 1996 and has guided the Red Storm to 17 NCAA Tournaments and four College Cup appearances. Masur has also led St. John's to a conference-record eight BIG EAST Tournament crowns as well as six BIG EAST regular season titles.
The 2011 Winter Clinic, geared towards high school-age soccer players, was held on Jan. 30 and marked the latest largely successful camp offering by Masur, who has been putting on camps and clinics for 25 years.
