TEAM NOTES
- St. John's is now 18-8 overall, including a 7-6 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
- After falling behind 10-0 early in the first half, the Red Storm went on a 33-9 run to take a 33-19 lead over the Orange.
- Junior Da'Shena Stevens and sophomore Eugeneia McPherson combined to score St. John's first 23 points. Stevens scored 10 points in the first 6:49.
- The Red Storm shot exactly 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field in the first half for the fourth time in 2010-11.
- St. John's five first-half 3-pointers were a season-high for the Red Storm and the six total 3-point buckets tied a season-high (6, at Maryland, Dec. 29).
- STJ recorded 15 assists in the game, marking the seventh time this season the Red Storm has recorded 15 assists or more.
- The Red Storm outscored Syracuse, 28-15, in points off turnovers and 24-12 in points off the bench.
- SU now leads the all-time series 28-25 and improved to 13-10 at Carnesecca Arena.
- Head coach Kim Barnes Arico is now 148-121 at St. John's and 242-193 overall as a head coach.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- St. John's had three players score in double figures, including Stevens (18), McPherson (16) and sophomore Nadirah McKenith (10).
- Stevens went 7-of-13 from the field to record her eighth game of the season with 15 points or more. The junior now has 1,171 points all-time and sits in 12th place on the all-time scoring list. She is now just 17 points behind Kerry Karst's mark of 1,190.
- McPherson scored 16 points and tied a career-high with four 3-point buckets in the game. 15 of her 16 points and all four treys came in the opening half. Her 15 first-half points tied her own mark for best scoring performance in the opening half this season. She also scored 15 points in the opening half at Maryland (Dec. 29). The sophomore added four assists and four steals in the game.
- McKenith's bucket as time expired marked her seventh double-figure scoring performance of the season and 18th of her career. She added six assists to record her 10th game of the season with at least five assists or more and 30th of her career. McKenith also went all game without turning the ball over.
- All eight St. John's players who entered the game scored at least one field goal.
