Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
Opening Statement:
"It was a great win for us in our quest to the NCAA tournament. I was really proud of our seniors and thought they did a tremendous job. Everybody else stepped up and did what they needed to do to send them out on a great note. I can't say enough about Sky (Lindsay) and Coco (Centhya Hart) and what they have brought to our program over the last four years and I'm really proud that they were able to go out on a great note."
On the team:
"We probably have the smallest team in America… we're at a disadvantage every night, but our toughness really makes up for that. In the first half I thought we were incredibly soft. We're a great rebounding team, take nothing away from them, they did a tremendous job of really putting a lot of pressure on us. I thought our defense was outstanding and even though we gave up that many rebounds, our defense allowed us to stay in the game. We made rebounding our mission in the second half… we weren't going to be able to win this game if we gave up that many rebounds. We needed to even it out in the second half."
On the play of Shenneika Smith in the second half:
Shenneika (Smith) always gives us a spark for our team and a lot of times she does it on the defensive end. A lot of people don't really see that because she's always matched up with the other team's best player, but she struggled a little on the offensive end to start. It was great when she made her first shot because then she got in to a rhythm and she took over at one point and she has the capability of doing that in games and really scoring in bunches, she did that for us in the second half."
St. John's Senior Guard Sky Lindsay
On her four years at St. John's:
"I'm happy that I'm able to go out on a high note. St. John's basketball is doing great and I know that I was one of the first New Yorkers to come here and I'm graduating and now a lot of tri-state players have came. Some of the best from the tri-state area have come and I definitely see a great future at St. John's with our local players and our recruiting class. St. John's has a great future and I'm definitely going to be in the stands rooting for St. John's."
St. John's Senior Forward Centhya Hart
On her four years at St. John's:
"Four years… it's been a fun journey and I've learned a lot. Coming all the way from out-of-state, I think it was a good decision because I did learn a lot from this program and I think the girls who come from out-of-state will too. Sky and I had a bet going who was going to cry first… so we were trying to hold it in. But we both went into the game looking at it like we really needed this game to get where we got last year. So we put our emotions aside and just went out and played."
