CLEARWATER, Fla. - The St. John's softball team gets a shot at some international competition on Tuesday when it takes on the Dutch National Team in an exhibition matchup at Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will feature live Gametracker coverage on RedStormSports.com.
The Dutch National Team has been in Florida since Feb. 28 and the team will wrap its U.S. training camp on March 15. The Netherlands has gone 2-4 against six NCAA Division I opponents so far during its stay. The Dutch defeated Michigan, 6-1, on March 2 and edged Louisiana-Monroe, 4-3, on March 5. The team fell to Loyola Marymount, Georgia Southern, Tennessee and Ball State. The Dutch play Central Michigan at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
St. John's (7-12) is coming off of a 2-2 showing in last weekend's Stevens Industries FGCU Tournament in Fort Myers, Fla. The team traveled 129 miles up the Florida coast for the second half of its Spring Break stay in the Sunshine State. The Red Storm will next compete in the USF-Under Armour Showcase from March 11-13 at Eddie C. Moore Complex, facing Saint Joseph's, Quinnipiac, Toledo, Maryland and Massachusetts.
