QUEENS, N.Y. - After helping St. John's to a pair of shutout wins as part of a 2-0-0 week at home, forward Walter Hines and defender Connor Lade have both been named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll. The honor marks the second-straight conference recognition for Lade, who earned Defensive Player of the Week honors a week ago.
Hines scored a pair of goals, his first two of the season, to help pace the Red Storm offensively. After netting an insurance goal in the second half of a 2-0 win against Harvard (Sept. 9), the forward notched another second half goal in a 2-0 win against Yale (Sept. 11).
Lade, meanwhile, anchored a defensive unit that allowed a combined eight shots, including just two on goal, in the two games. Lade and the defense held Harvard to three shots, zero on goal, in a game that marked the second-consecutive contest in which St. John's allowed zero shots on goal. The back line then held Yale to five shots, two on goal, while Lade was also credited with a defensive save.
St. John's (4-1-0) currently ranks first in the conference in shutouts (4), fourth in goals against average (0.60) and tied for fourth in corner kicks (30).
Rafael Diaz leads the league in shutouts (4) and ranks fourth in goals against average (0.61), while Jimmy Mulligan is tied for the league-lead with three assists. Jack Bennett is tied for first in game-winners (3), tied for fifth in goals (3) and tied for sixth in points (6).
St. John's continues its four-game homestand at 8 p.m. on Sept. 16, hosting Indiana.
