QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's golf team wrapped up play at the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Sunday, finishing in fifth after carding 317-310-627.
Sophomore Harin Lee continued her strong fall play, carding a 76-73-149(+5) to finish in third place. Lee said earlier in the fall season that her goal was to never be more than one-over par during any round, and after a tough day on Saturday, rebounded for a one-over 73 on the par-72, 6258-yard The Players Club (Yorktown, Ind.).
The Red Storm also got a strong performance out of senior Ellen Oswald who was six-over par to finish the tournament 79-78-157 (+13), and put her in a tie for 16th place. The finish was the best for Oswald since the EKY El Diablo Intercollegiate March 10-12, when she finished 13th.
Sophomore Stephanie Eybers tied for 31st after carding an 81-80-161(+17). Juniors Sebin Kim and Mariana Barrios tied for 35th, as Kim shot 81-81-162(+18) and Barrios shot 83-79-162(+18).
Southern Illinois took home the team title, while SIU's Margaret Gilley took home the individual title by three strokes.
The Red Storm will take a three-week break from competition before heading to the Richmond Spider Invitational at Independence Golf Club (Midlothian, Va.)
