Red Storm Finishes 10th At Wendy's Kiawah Classic

QUEENS, N.Y. - Three players had their best round of the 2012 Wendy's Kiawah Classic, and the St. John's men's golf team shot a 299(+15) to finish 10th. Junior Ryan McCormick shot a one-under 70 to lead the Red Storm and tie for fifth place in the individual competition.
Along with McCormick, sophomore Dylan Crowley had his best day at Turtle Point Golf Club, shooting a 73(+2) while senior Pat Wilson shot a 77(+6). Classmate Jeremy Quinn shot a 79(+8) in the third round while fellow senior Ryan Gay carded an 80 (+9) to close out the tournament. Sophomore Mitch Hadfield shot a 76(+5) while competing as an individual.
McCormick started off the day with birdies on the second and third holes, adding another birdie on the 13th hole to move to three-under par before a double bogey on 15 for a final round of 70. Crowley strung together three birdies with three bogeys and a double bogey for a 73.
For his efforts at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic, McCormick was named to the all-tournament team following his first top-five of the fall season. South Carolina took the team competition after leading through all three rounds, while USC's Caleb Sturgeon took the individual title.
