TEAM NOTES.
- St. John's has now won six games in a row, all against BIG EAST opponents.
- St. John's has won 12 of its last 13 games at Carnesecca Arena.
- The Red Storm dished out 14 assists to just 11 turnovers for the game. STJ is now 12-2 in games with a 1:1 or better turnover margin.
- West Virginia had only 14 assists to 16 turnovers. St. John's has not allowed any BIG EAST opponent to record a positive assist-to-turnover ratio so far this season.
- St. John's grabbed a 2-0 lead on the first possession and led for the remainder of the contest. The lead stretched to as large as 17 late in the first half.
- The Red Storm forced 16 turnovers and outscored the Moutaineers 19-8 in points off turnovers. STJ has now outscored its opponent in 13 straight games.
- The Red Storm is now 18-2 when outscoring their opponent in points off turnovers.
- It is the second-consecutive win for St. John's against West Virginia after beating the Moutaineers 59-51 in the second round of the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament.
- St. John's is now 3-6 all-time against West Virginia at Carnesecca Arena.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Junior Nadirah McKenith tied a career and season with 26 points on 7-14 shooting from the field and 11-of-13 from the line.
- The 11 free throws match a career-high. She last sank 11 free throws in the Feb. 12 victory at No. 17/16 Rutgers.
- McKenith also added six rebounds, five assists and five steals. McKenith is sixth all-time in career steals with 207 and fifth all-time in assists with 412. McKenith also only turned the ball twice during the contest.
- Senior Da'Shena Stevens finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Over the team's six-game winning streak, Stevens has recorded double figure scoring and at least five rebounds in five contests.
- Stevens is now sixth in all-time field goal attempts with 1,234 after going 3-of-9 from the field against the Mountaineers.
- Junior Shenneika Smith added 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Smith knocked down 2-of-2 from 3-point land and has now hit her last three long range attempts including the game-winning field goal against UConn (Feb. 18).
- Smith has scored in double figures in all but one BIG EAST contest this season. She leads the team in scoring during conference play at 12.6 points per game.
