Stevens Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's senior forward Da'Shena Stevens was named to the BIG EAST conference honor roll as announced by league officials on Monday. The accolade is Stevens first weekly award of the year for Stevens and eighth weekly award overall, while the honor roll mention marked the sixth award for St. John's this season.
Stevens, a Stamford, Conn. native, averaged a team-best 16.0 points per game for the Red Storm in a 2-0 week that included wins over Pittsburgh (Jan. 31) and Seton Hall (Feb. 4). With the victories, St. John's has won four-straight conference games on the road.
The senior captain had a season-high 19 points, five rebounds and three steals at Pittsburgh, helping the Red Storm to a 61-51 win. At Seton Hall, she had 13 points, two steals, three assists and four rebounds, shooting 71.4 percent from the floor.
In BIG EAST road games, Stevens leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game.
Stevens sat out the first 10 games of the season while rehabbing an off-season knee injury and made her return to the court on Dec. 17. Her first start of the season was against Boston University on Dec. 31. St. John's is 10-3 since Stevens has been healthy.
Stevens is No. 8 in St. John's all-time scoring records with 1,366 career points. She is also No. 4 in all-time rebounds with 751.
The honor roll mention was the sixth award for St. John's this season.
The Red Storm is back in action on Wednesday as St. John's looks to continue its win streak with a morning tip off against USF. Game time is slated for 11:30 a.m. as St. John's welcomes more than 3,000 local elementary school students to Carnesecca Arena for the second annual Field Trip Day.
